ABOUT TRANQUILO
tranquilo is a creative filmmaking production house based in Toronto. An evolution from their preceding filmmaking body ¡FUEGO!, tranquilo creates work on film for the music video, narrative, and documentary formats. tranquilo comprises Peruvian-Argentinian-French duo Pia Perez and Sylvain Chaussée, along with a vibrant crew of impassioned and valued collaborators, all pushing the boundaries of artistic expression within the commercial realm.
They have worked with a diverse array of international artists, and their combined body of work has received millions of streams online. Their work celebrates the visual qualities inherent to the film image, while exploring the aesthetic possibilities of the medium. A finely honed practice devoted to analog film processes, allows them to utilize film stocks and processing techniques to achieve their unique style.

The Lipsett Award is presented to a Canadian music video artist for their innovative and unique approach to music video art. Arthur Lipsett was a Canadian filmmaker best known for his sound collage films made for the National Film Board of Canada in the 1960s. Lipsett’s unique approach to editing sound and image earned much attention, as well as an Oscar Nomination in 1962 for the film Very Nice, Very Nice.
